Site specific music and dance
The Gauntlet is a site-specific choral and movement work that immerses audiences in waves of harmony, poetry and gesture. Led through musical corridors and sonic architecture created entirely from the human voice, it is an intimate encounter that exists only once, in that place, with those people.
Each Gauntlet is created from and performed for a specific community. The libretto is drawn from life rather than invented: performers and community members are chosen for their connection to a place or theme and invited to take part in an embodied interview process known as movement interviews. Their personal narratives become the text of the work, sung by a local choir.
The Gauntlet brings together professional artists and local communities in a work rooted in its surroundings. Every performance is a unique meeting of voices, bodies, stories and place.
