MULTIMEDIA THEATRE CONCERT
Edgar Allan Poe’s Haunted Palace is a darkly comic and highly visual theatre concert inspired by the stories, poems and turbulent life of Edgar Allan Poe. A young poet enters a haunted palace, where a devilish Raven supplies him with ink that promises fame and glory. As he searches through its corridors and rooms, he encounters Poe’s characters, poems, obsessions and dying maidens.
The Tiger Lillies’ distinctive live music, performed alongside two actors, is combined with striking video and visual design to create a surreal journey through Poe’s dark imagination. The show retains Poe’s black humour while moving between the grotesque, the poetic and the absurd.
Created by an international team led by Franco-American director Paul Golub, with visual direction by Mark Holthusen, text by Peder Bjurman and an original score by Martyn Jacques, the production has toured internationally for almost 10 years.
